Most industry Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) aims to filter contaminants from air. Some specialist equipment provides breathable air where filtration is not possible. Basic filters are aimed at dusts but some may block harmful chemicals (organic solvents etc).
We have seen a lot of mis-applied RPE as there are several factors to take into account, usually well buried in the literature or not obvious to the untrained professional. Before selecting and using any RPE in an environment where biocide may be present, it is important to understand certain limitations.
