Quaternary Ammonium

We have been asked if Quaternanry Ammonium compounds (quat / quats) are “safe” biocides. According to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), such a chemicals is “toxic if swallowed, causes severe skin burns and eye damage, is toxic in contact with skin, is very toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects and causes serious eye damage.“
There is no such thing as a “safe” biocide and professional management is essential to working safely with these useful chemicals.
